Honorable Mentions

"Reality Inside" by Jennifer Lance

In between,
Faith and doubt,
Throw me in water high,

Wash me clean,
Wring me out,
And hang me up to dry,

Me and you,
Always fight,
Left with a tattered dream,

Thread me through,
Stitch me tight,
And sew up the torn seam,

Bitter swords,
You still fear,
To turn the page on friends,

Ink me words,
Write me clear,
Then let the story end.

"A Promise" by Brittany Marie Willett

I will plant you a garden, I will plant you a garden, I will
plant you a garden in time.
I will place seeds in the dark Earth, under warm sun,
Hoping in season, full blossom they will come.
Flowers of all kids, I will sow,
Hold on to the happiness, dispose of the woe.
Lilies, tulips and roses galore,
Bushes and trees, but wait, there is more.
Plant that I will,
Green vines of ivy by the windowsill.
Lilacs and daisies, a thousand times over,
Gently overshadowing small clumps of lush clover.
When the warm breeze blows, and God smiles down on me,
I will water your garden with tears of joy, you'll see.
Soon your garden will grow bustling with life,
That will rid my emotions of all my sad strife.
In time, your garden will bloom, and my work will be
finished,
All the fear of dying will now have diminished.
When this is all done, I will have only one more thing to do,
Sit in your garden, and remember you.

In honor of Felicia Willett-
You have now gone to a better place, but your memory lives on in our hearts!

"Waiting" by Melissa Zager

Waiting to speak
Holding my tongue
Finding a way
To be heard
I'm so alone
No one is listening
I am invisible
Crying inside
Hiding my true self
Putting a smile on
I fade into the background
Just waiting to be found
Yet no one is coming
No one
